Dean’s Dream [geared towards 3-5 year olds] is a show about a boy who goes to sleep and has big dreams. His dreams consist of a question or problem, which is solved upon waking up by the end of the show. Topics include friendship, healthy foods, and counting.
Dean’s Dream is a small part of a big world with shows that split off into each other, but with big dreams come baby steps. Dean’s Dream was conceived on a very small budget hence the not so color backgrounds in some scenes. I only had two days to film and a semester to create the set, a few puppets, and lots of post-production including promotional material.
If I have the opportunity to make another episode, I would like to redesign all the puppets and make it a more lively. It was a wonderful learning experience and next time I film a puppet video, I know all the challenges that come with it.

Here’s a clip of the Pilot “Jhum Jhum” made for TV in India. This was the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced in my life. It included training people who were otherwise not actors or puppeteers to handle puppets on camera, tackle difficult issues with children such as boiling water, and working with a language barrier. Although the governing council deemed the piece to have a “tremendous impact,” the station was shut down for politic reasons about 6 months later for other reasons. Jhum Jhum was able to reach TV once on one of the other shows.
